It's out! Finally, my novel about Moses - the incomparable historic and religious figure - is available on Amazon and other literary outlets.
Titled simply, MOSES, my book traces the life of the man who is revered by all three Abrahamic religions. However, much of what we think we know about Moses simply cannot be factual. The Bible was written, rewritten, added to, and subtracted from throughout the years and many "authors" had a hand in that. As a mythic tale of a people ruled by laws, with allegiance to one God, the story of Moses and the Exodus has deep meaning that has persisted for more than three thousand years.
But there are major aspects of the Moses/Exodus story that we grew up with that are patently false. For one, the Exodus as described in the Bible never happened as described. After more than two hundred years of intensive archaeological research into every square inch of the Sinai desert, no trace has ever been found of 600,000 people, according to the Bible's account, trekking and camping there. Even more compelling is the fact that Egyptians, meticulous writers and historians, never mentioned it.
There is so much more to discuss than I have room here in this newsletter. I address some of these in the Forward to my novel. What I've attempted to do is recast the tale of Moses and the Exodus based on the latest archeological findings and new theories, then woven what I hope is an captivating tale of who Moses might have been and how he grew from failure to lead a ragtag group of one-God adherents that became what we know today as the Jewish people and, by extension, Christians. Moses, the mythic father-figure, is revered by Jews, Christians and Muslims alike.
So, if you're in the mood for the retelling of a story you thought you knew, head here for my novel, Moses. And I'd like to hear what you think of it.
